Graphite stacks, reviewed and merged in one window.
Keep Graphite for creating stacks and running the merge queue. Mergiato is where you work through them: the whole stack on every PR, its checks and threads, and a Merge button that goes through Graphite's queue. It runs on your own GitHub CLI, so there's nothing new for your org to approve.
Free, no sign-up. For Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

Who does what
| Graphite | Mergiato | |
|---|---|---|
| Creating and restacking | Its core: the gt CLI |
Leaves it to gt, and picks up the new stack on its next refresh |
| Seeing the stack | On Graphite's site, and in the comment it posts on each PR | On every PR, with PRs already merged out of it, and ↑ ↓ to move along |
| Merge queue | Runs it | Adds the queue label; reads Merge 2 PRs when the PRs below go too, then shows Queued and Merging |
| AI review | Built in | Leaves it to Graphite |
| Checks | CI status on the PR | Each job's latest run and time; re-run the failed ones from the PR |
| Also in the window | Your inbox of PRs and review requests, Vercel previews, a terminal under each PR |
A day with both
- Create and submit your stack with
gt, as usual. - Review your teammates' stacks in Mergiato. The stack sits next to each PR's description, and ↑ ↓ moves along it.
- When a check fails, re-run the failed jobs from the PR and keep reading while they run.
- Press Merge. Mergiato adds Graphite's queue label, and the PRs below go with it.
Each PR has a Graphite button that copies its link, or opens it there with ⌘-click, for anything you'd rather do on Graphite's site.
Nothing extra for your org
Graphite connects through its GitHub App, which an org owner often has to approve. Mergiato adds nothing to that:
it uses each person's own gh sign-in, so one person can try it without asking anyone. Requests go
from your machine straight to GitHub. Here's exactly what it can access.
Teammates without Graphite
Mergiato also reads GitHub's own stacks and plain branch chains, and merges through GitHub's merge queue or the repository's merge methods. Someone who stacks by hand sees the same stacks. More on stacked PRs in Mergiato.
Questions
Does Mergiato replace Graphite?
No. It covers reviewing and merging. Creating and restacking stacks, AI review and running the merge queue stay with Graphite.
Do I need a Graphite account to see stacks in Mergiato?
No. Mergiato reads Graphite's stack comments from GitHub, through your own GitHub CLI. It also reads GitHub's own stacks and plain branch chains.
Does Mergiato send my code anywhere?
No. Requests go from your machine straight to GitHub through your GitHub CLI. There are no Mergiato servers.
Free while in beta, under 10 MB, and it signs in through your GitHub CLI.
